Camp Caravan Haiku

written as an exercise on a Work Day at Camp Caravan

Haiku from an October Seminar at Camp Caravan

We were presented with a Haiku exercise during a 2025 work period. We were challenged to create the 17-syllable poems—about anything.  Here are some that emerged.

My eyes search the room

Is everyone here my friend?

My heart tells me “Yes!”

I touch the paper

It feels smooth and receptive

My words fall like leaves

Many hands write now

I see pens moving haltingly

But soon, all will flow

Leaves are nearly dry

But the apple is still juicy

Young, red, and shining

The wood looks so warm

Now bathed in afternoon light

I sit in grace now

What is in your face

That speaks so much of kindness?

I see your warm light.

Did you forget me

When you clung so hard to pride?

Ah ha! Just breathe now.

A bug fell on me

Although I felt no love there

When it died, I cried

We honor the clock

When it chimes, we stop talking

Bong, bong, bong, bong, bong
