"Together we produce ‘Work Energy’ that is preserved in the group. Not dependent on individual people, it forms the ‘blood’ for a Kesdjan body—the essence—of Camp Caravan, produced over many years.
—Stella Lackore, Seminar Attendee, Art Teacher and Therapist, Student of Michel de Salzmann

MUSIC
Musical recordings
- G. I. Gurdjieff and Thomas de Hartmann co-composed a significant body of music in the mid-1920s, blending Eastern folk and liturgical traditions with Western composition techniques
- A four‑volume piano anthology was published by Schott between 1996 and 2005, accompanied by recordings on Wergo (1997–2001) performed by pianists Linda Daniel‑Spitz, Charles Ketcham, and Laurence Rosenthal.
- Earlier recordings, including those by Thomas de Hartmann himself, appeared on Triangle Records (1989, 3‑CD reissue).
Performers and projects
- The Thomas de Hartmann Project produces extensive recordings and performances. Joshua Bell performed the DeHartmann violin concerto on the world stage in 2025.
- Elan Sicroff is a prominent interpreter; trained by Olga de Hartmann, he has toured extensively and championed Gurdjieff–de Hartmann music and de Hartmann’s broader catalog through the Thomas de Hartmann Project. He recorded the complete Gurdjieff Movements music repertoire in 2025 to be released in 2026.
- Keith Jarrett helped popularize the repertoire with a solo piano album “G.I. Gurdjieff: Sacred Hymns” released by ECM in 1980
- Other noted performers include Laurence Rosenthal, Cecil Lytle, Helen Perkin, and Alessandra Celleti.
Ensembles
- The Gurdjieff Folk Instruments Ensemble, founded and directed by Levon Eskenian, performs authentic arrangements of Gurdjieff’s music using traditional instruments of Armenia and the Middle East.
- Modern adaptation of the repertoire, including a guitar reinterpretation of Gurdjieff/de Hartmann pieces by Mittino and Lams.
