2017 Monthly Skills-for-Life workshops

Sun, Sept 17, 9 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. at Camp Caravan, with lunch provided Finding our Inner Compass: where do we begin?

Many of us find it a challenge to live by our values and to stay true to our inner guide.

The Skills-for-Life staff invites you to join us for a series of one-day and weekend events at Camp Caravan over the coming year, where we can work together to make this aim more concrete and practical.

Do you find yourself in front of questions like: 'What am I going to do with my life?", "What is my calling?", "How can I contribute to a better future?" Come share your questions and understanding. Let's work together on ways to find and strengthen the inner compass that will help each of us answer such questions for ourselves.

We want to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. We want to work, and to make a useful contribution that is ethically clean. This is in the midst of pressures that call for a profitable career while others call on us to drop out, to give up, or not to care.

Is the world a more bewildering place than it has ever been? While this instability may be a necessary step in human evolution, and a great opportunity for growth, in our daily lives it can often leave the individual at a loss for guidance.

Something tells me that there is a right way for me, a place in society, where I can plug in and feel good about giving and taking. We can think of this as an inner compass; a voice that will guide me. Some have named this "conscience", others, "the god particle" and others, "instinct."

For this workshop, we call it our inner compass – that which points the right way for us. It can be the factor that brings stability when external, and even internal pressures pull and push us in every which way.

Many will agree that such a factor exists in everyone, . What is less understood is that this voice - this force has little influence in our daily lives, but that there are ways to train and strengthen it. This is a core aim of the Skills-for-Life program; possibly the most important one.

We invite you to be part of it.

Event and Project Summary

An auspicious occasion:

The Gurdjieff Movements, a form of sacred dance rarely performed in public, will be presented and demonstrated July 13, 2014, in Buckland MA, in collaboration between the European instructor Margit Martinu, and MREC, a Gurdjieff "Work" group, based in Royalston, MA. This will take place as part of a three-day celebration called Tsegyalgar 30. The Dzogchen Community in America (Tsegyalgar), located in Conway, and Buckland, MA is organizing the three-day event.

The purpose of the overall event is the inauguration of the Mandala Hall, a unique structure recently constructed on Tsegyalgar's retreat land in Buckland, MA, which houses a large colorful Mandala for the practice of sacred Vajra Dance. In addition, the event celebrates the thirty+ year presence and history of Tsegyalgar, the North American center established by the Tibetan Dzogchen Master, Chogyal Namkhai Norbu.

Robert Fripp and the Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists

What is The Orchestra of Crafty Guitarists?

One possible answer is a lot of people making a lot of noise with guitars. Sometimes they perform in public, as in Spain, Italy, Argentina, and in the USA, in places like Hadley, Boston, Seattle and New York City.

Another possible answer is a specialized study in the self-organizing properties of complex wholes. How does Intelligence act in and through many individuals, coming together as one? You are invited to attend the East Coast tour. View more at the links below.
